Home Team Report: Staines “A” got revenge for the defeat the “C” team had inflicted on them early in the season in this reverse fixture, Fraser edged the opener on the pink & then showed a clean pair of heels in the second, he produced a break of 46 then finished off in good style with a 35 clearance to defeat Rowlatt. Harvey was to strong for Danny “seven times future” Hocking in there encounter, the promising Hocking still learning his trade in his maiden season in the top flight had no answers for the former English amateur quarter finalist, although having a outside chance of pinching their opener he snookered himself on the final yellow & that was three nil. An increasingly frustrated Hocking as hard as he tried couldn’t muster any sort of form in the next & Harvey punished his errors again with a 43 break to put the A team into an unassailable lead. Court put a brief smile back onto his sides faces when potting the first of two black ball frames with Connors, both having a number of chances it was Connors that left the black over the middle pocket for Court to close the score line to 4-1, it was deja-vu in the next Court had missed a tight black off it’s spot when on a break of 23 to allow Connors back into the frame & as the first it again went down to the final black, Connors this time prevailed after both had squandered good opportunities.
If this season is to be a bridge to far for the young Staines side I’m sure they will bounce straight back & will have improved for the experience they have gained, all is not lost just yet, keep on fighting.
