Away Team Report: Staines had to dig deep to sneak a draw from a Woking side that on reflection may feel a little aggrieved not to have won. Monkton played Harvey in the first game of the evening & with both missing a few early on it was Monkton who found his range with two frame winning contributions his 44 in the first & a 51 in the second was enough to put Woking firmly in the driving seat.
Fraser soon levelled proceedings by defeating Pocock in convincing fashion with yet another solid display, the mild mannered Fraser’s consistency at this level is a true credit to him 2-2.
With the match finely poised Deardon & Connors rounded off the evening, Connors broke off & careered straight back into the reds, Deardon soon rattled in a 43 break & was well placed to take the opener, but Connors with some delightful safety & a little rub of the green clawed his way back into contention & found himself only ten points adrift on the final green, after a bout of safety Connors finally succumbed when double kissing the green leaving a straight forward green to pink clearance 3-2 Woking. In the final frame of the evening Deardon again blasted out to a thirty point lead but just like there first he couldn’t shake Connors off & on the colours there was nothing between them, Deardon potted the green landing perfectly on the brown & was well placed to clear up, but to everyone’s amazement Deardon missed the routine brown throwing Connors another life line, after potting the brown Deardon attempted a thin cut on the blue but left it in the jaws & to make things worse turned around to see the white drop into the yellow pocket, with the ball in hand a fortunate Connors potted blue & pink to level the match at three apiece.
