Away Team Report:
So going into out last match of the season we all knew what we had to do ! And looking at the draw, seeing i was playing Jacko first up i straight away felt the pressure knowing what he can do specially on that (his home) table. Playing with the pressure and with the driving forces behind me of knowing how close my team have been to 2nd over the years, i was determined to help be difference this time and get us off to a good start! I felt i played two pretty clinical frames with a 39 at the start of the first and 29 the second. As i’d expect tho, in spite of my lead it wasn’t as easy as that and both frames went well into the colours. With a good crucial snooker escape, a bit of luck and good sportsmanship from Jacko i was pleased to finally get the decisive pots to win both games on the blue.
Ganners was confidently targeting the highest break in his frame but with blue, pink and black all somehow going safe early there was never any chance of that and he did well just to win what turned into a really scrappy frame! James altho very nervous, shaking on the shots lol, he got off to good start with a 24 before missing a tricky black off the spot. Once he got this 20 odd lead tho he played a good clinical frame taking little to no risks and held himself together to pot the last few pressure balls at the end to get over the line.
That frame to get to 4-0 was absolutely massive for our chances but we all know how competitive Andy is and for the Bear the work had only just begun!! Having lost a one-framer to Jean-Marc not so long ago it’s fair to say he could not have been more fired up haha! But Jean obvs had a point to prove to him too as they turned out to be the best frames of the night and the first imo was definitely the best of the season! It’s worth watching (on my Facebook) if u haven’t already but if not here’s what i remember ?? lol. So Andy with the aid of a few long reds and breaks of 24 & 31 went 61-0 up. With the black being difficult to get on and only 5 reds left the comeback seemed impossible! After a long red by Jean and being forced to take the yellow off it points were rapidly running out. From there tho Jean did remarkably well to pick off the 4 (couple of them awkward) reds with pinks to take the break to 31 needing 1 snooker to win by 1pt. Immediately following his 31 Jean got three Selbyesk snookers in a row! Equally good Andy got out of all of them before Jean got another good one on the brown (25 behind) but yet again Andy escaped it! A few tries later Andy got his first look at a pot since being 61-0 up and he nailed it full length (10ft) up the cushion in the green pocket followed by the blue. As i said best all round standard frame i’d seen all season. Their second frame was similarly battled out with Andy up to everything Jean-Marc through at him and the Bear’s work, our third 6-0 of the season and a guaranteed 2nd place in the League (for the first time) was complete! ??
Got to include James’ lovely lil leaving msg for Andy here too:
Oh try n play it down a little Ryan , Andy Hates it when a fuss is made of him !! Haha!
In all seriousness , Big up the Bear !! Brought it home last night mate , perfect way to finish what we’ve all been chasing since forming together , its been brilliant n Andy gona miss you very much !!! But by no means a goodbye ! Stay on the group n we’ve got presentation n no doubt we’ll be making trips to Brighton n no way we’ll not pop in for a visit , n give us a shout for any comps goin on down the castle club , be great to catchup n compete against you for a change !
Brilliant stuff last night guys from everyone !!! Sunningill B couldnt have bettered that score ! OFFICIALLY the second best team in the whole league ..
Finally a special mention to Dalton who whipped up the finest Curry (Makhani) as a generous end of season meal for all of us! He even including a special veggie version for me and my dad and even tho there was somehow some left over i know all 13 of us enjoyed it until we physically couldn’t fit anymore down us haha! Thanks mate ??

Ryan
