Home Team Report: Our title chances look all but over after this comprehensive win by Knaphill...
2026 begins as 2025 ended, with another defeat. We battled hard but weren't a match for Knaphill, who in turn helped their own fight to remain in the Prem.
Gavin was in excellent form in the opener. He really took the frame to Andy. A crisp, confident break of 30 was only thwarted by an unlucky in-off. His shot selection was positive throughout and the frame was won with reds still on the table.
The second was closer. Indeed, Andy was ahead but went in-off the last red. Bold pots on green (which was partially obscured); and followed by long brown and blue gave Gavin the initiative just when he needed.
The yellow proved the pivotal moment in frame three. Kelvin played a swerve to get out of a snooker, missed and was put back in. His second attempt hit the yellow but he left it up and Paul wrapped up a 3 - 0 lead.
I played quite tidily to lead Paul 25 - 1 in the fourth before he hit his stride and turned the tables. I didn't get further chances and he won on the colours.
Jasmine then put on a superb display across both her frames. Her trademark long potting was exceptional. There were at least three occasions when I felt I'd played a good safety, leaving her either in baulk or on the bottom cushion - only to see a long red swept in with typical grace. Breaks of 26 against me and 32 against Kelvin were masterclasses in positional and tactical play; and a delight to watch.
We can have no complaints about tonight's result and wish Knaphill the best of luck for the rest of the season. Our campaign continues: playing for pride!
