Away Team Report:
Egham completed a hard-fought win in a match where we all played well.

Andy did little - if anything - wrong throughout the opener. His long potting was excellent in taking an early lead. Warren then sprang to life and, without making a fuss, quickly overturned the deficit helped by a break of 22. He slammed the last red from distance into the green pocket to secure the frame.

Brown was frame-ball in the second, but Andy missed it and had to watch helplessly as Warren potted it from distance and cleared up to force a re-spot. Fortune smiled on Andy as he levelled the match after Warren suffered a double-kiss playing safe.

Another re-spot was a real possibility after I cross-doubled the blue to leave myself 13 behind against Andy, who'd made a quick start to frame three. The black was stuck on the side cushion at the end and the pot on the pink I needed was into the same pocket. Indeed, the black partially obscured the route to the pocket - and that was the outcome. My shot on the pink hit the black and left both of them up.

The fourth frame was again even until my mistake on the penultimate red. I went in-off playing a routine safety into baulk and Andy cleared to the blue with a break of 25 including some trademark long pots and positional play.

Kelvin led by 11 on the pink as we looked to reduce our arrears. But, the fifth frame hinged on Jaf's subsequent fluked snooker. Kelvin missed first time, hit the second but left it on. Jaf made no mistake in a frame that contained a bit of everything.

The final frame again came down to the pink, although Kelvin had been 30 ahead with two reds remaining. Jaf's break of 23 reeled him back in and a total clearance looked on at one stage. Instead, Kelvin's lead on the pink was 7. After a safety exchange, he played arguably the best shot of the entire night (and certainly the bravest): a superb almost straight pink from tight on the side cushion in baulk into the opposite top corner.
