Home Team Report: I pondered over the best way to put our team up with Mark Mc wanting to play Mark L but I thought that it would be better for me to play him. I played Mark L first and early on he missed a few and gave me a couple of chances which I took reasonably well. I was just unluckily behind 22-25 with Mark having 3 flukes (he needs them doesn‘t he!) and well on my way to hopefully getting 2 points or at least 1, I was left a chance and scored 5 before stupidly missing a red of the spot and leaving my white in the area. Mark then made a superb 96 playing an all round game unluckily breaking down just before the 100. I thought just score 28 and get the point but could only manage a paltry 5 before Mark ran out with a nice 29unf. Once again Mark demonstrated his great skill and I honestly think he is playing as well as he ever has but as much as I enjoy watching him play I wish he would get his highest breaks against other teams! He has breaks of 103, 96, 30 and 29 against us this season. The second game started slowly with both players being fairly even up to the 50s but Dan virtually stopped scoring and Paul scored steadily to build up a 70 lead. My throat was getting dry after having to shout out the scores so many times as Dan started to play after being in the doldrums and after a couple of breaks in the teens it looked like he would at least get to 100 or even pinch it but Paul finished the game off well leaving Dan stranded on 94. Mark Mc had been to Thorpe Park all day and this was a roller coaster of a game with both players taking the lead before being pegged back, eventually Steve got the upper hand with a couple of nice breaks but only just and when Mark was left a “floating white” position, I expected him to score heavily but after a few shots he tried to hold the white when potting the red and left it agonisingly in the jaws for Steve, who coolly picked off the 27 he needed to win. I do hope Steve’s blocked ears get better soon. I can only recommend to you all that it is not a good idea to go to theme parks before a match far better to get your thrills at the billiards! Once again a fabulous evening with the Woking team, a match played in great spirit. I think they will be very hard to catch now leaving the rest of us to fight for second place and try to avoid relegation, it will be that close. Peter McIntyre
