Away Team Report: I thought that this would be a tight match and so it proved to be although the score line might not reflect it. In the first Mark raced into a 20 point lead and I was playing catch up but I kept scoring regularly and Mark had a few blanks which allowed me to take the lead and eventually the game. I did have the majority of the run and I think Mark will become more consistent the more he plays and as he gains experience he will be a handful for anyone. In the second game Mark played Martin again and Mark knew he had to play well to beat the consistent Martin. After a slow start Mark got into his stride and played some very good billiards and with a 26, 19 and 22 in consecutive breaks to take a substantial lead. Mark has recently allowed some good leads to slip but this time he played solidly to the finish, Martin tried valiantly to get to 100 but just missed out in the end. A quote from Martin “the little so and so was awesome”. I must say at this point Martin is always very gracious in victory and defeat and will always congratulate his opponent for playing well, a lesson for us all. In the final game Trevor and Dan played a nip and tuck game and it always looked like Trevor held the upper hand until towards the end Dan compiled a very good 27 and then finished the game with a well taken 11, Trevor being unlucky to miss out. As I said earlier I don’t think the result reflected the match but I think that is how the league will be this season with no match being a foregone conclusion. The league will be in doubt right up to the final matches. Another great evening with some very sporting players and good company.
