Admin Report: No question that table 1 is a tough table with tighter pockets than others at the Snooker Centre, that’s why it’s the match table!!! To suggest that it’s unplayable is just plain wrong, many hundreds have been made over the years on this table so it can’t be that bad. Whilst we (Woking ‘B’) don’t choose to play on table 1 for our matches, it is none the less a fair table that rewards good play and just to emphasize the point, during our recent match with the ‘A’ team brakes of 27, 28, 30, 32 and 45 were compiled and not all by Mark. So yes table 1 is tough, but far from being unplayable!! Steve Berry Woking B.
Away Team Report: Match report??? In order to create a match report you have to have a match. I thought New Haw and West Byfleet’s tables were difficult but this surprising result was due in no small measure to the Woking match table! When a player of Steve Dale’s caliber plays a half ball drop for a double baulk and misses by a quarter ball - on the OTHER SIDE! - when a home player plays a soft half-ball cannon from about 3 or 4 feet and misses completely and when natural middle pocket/red spot in-offs miss by 2 or 3 inches, something is very wrong! The only comment worth making about this debacle is that Woking’s management should rip off that cloth and burn it! I’m not sure if anyone even got a 20 last night. It’s no wonder the other Woking team play on a different table. To their credit the Woking A team all used their home advantage well, as they are obviously used to these anomalies but to be fair to us, not only were we competing with a nightmare table but we should all have been wearing T-shirts like the one I was given at last years presentation. Thanks to the Woking team for the sporting way in which they acknowledged their advantage and as usual the hospitality and food were excellent. AS
