Away Team Report: Very eventful night but really proud of my team and the way we all played against what I think of as a strong team to get our first 6-0 win this season! The first frame for me was where it all began when I got a long red from Stan’s break off to make 32 but left the thin red in the middle short. What seemed like moments later I missed the green on 77 with my first league century in mind! I played it with side that I don’t even think I needed but had just potted a long left handed yellow the shot before. Think I had Nigel to thank for telling me that my break had been beaten just before we started.
With no sign of Ian, we got Nigel’s game against Andrew under way. Nigel grafted out two very good wins in spite of Andrew’s nice 43 in the first to draw back almost level straight after Nigel’s 34. The second was very scrappy but one I thought he did even better to win with a load of really good safety that was good to watch.
Ian turned up just after the fourth frame had begun but was looking very rough with a huge handful of blue paper towels lol. I didn’t mind though because I’d already moved onto a different cold from the one I had last week.. Anyway, with Brad Parker always being in front in the first, Ian snatched it away with a classy brown to black clearance. However, before Brad could even think about how he’d lost that one, he was immediately pulled away because of news that his new born baby was unwell in hospital. Brad Greenwood, who had been practising on the other table with Ian Rose the whole time, not expecting to play, substituted in the second against Ian. After such a long scrappy frame, this one was all over in less than ten minutes, thanks to a fine quick fire 50 break by Ian.
A good match which possibly flattered us because half the frames were tight but they all went our way.
